Moisture Testing & Mitigation
Moisture rising through a slab is a hidden floor-killer. We test before we coat and use moisture-tolerant primers when the reading says so.
The details, in plain English.
Concrete is porous. If water vapor is moving up through the slab, it can push a coating off from below, causing bubbles, blisters and delamination. New slabs, basements and garages without a vapor barrier are the most at risk.
We check moisture before we coat, using meters and, when needed, in-slab tests, and we explain what we find. If the slab is wet, a moisture-mitigating primer or a more tolerant system can protect the floor, and in extreme cases we will recommend waiting or fixing the source first.

- New concrete
- Basements and below-grade slabs

Test before we coat
No guessing: we measure moisture first.
Match the system
Use a moisture-tolerant primer when readings call for it.

If a slab is too wet, we say so and suggest the fix.

Questions, answered
How long should new concrete cure before coating?
Rule of thumb is about 28 days, and moisture testing is the better guide. Some moisture-tolerant systems can go on earlier.
What if my slab has no vapor barrier?
Many older garages do not. We test, and a mitigation primer can often handle moderate moisture. Severe cases need the source addressed.
How do I get a price?
Fill in the form or call 800-207-0499. We schedule a free assessment, look at the slab and send a written quote.
How long does it take?
Most two-car garages are done in a day. Large or heavily repaired floors can take longer, and we tell you the schedule before we start.
